League of Extraordinary Gentlemen co-creator Kevin O’Neill passes away
League of Extraordinary Gentlemen co-creator Kevin O’Neill has passed away according to reports at the age of 69.
The comic book creator has become an icon in the industry not just for his work with “Extraordinary” but also in his other works like Nemesis the Warlock and Marshall Law in the 1980s. But he gained huge prominence thanks to his collaborative work with League of Extraordinary Gentlemen with Alan Moore.
O’Neill first got a job for International Publishing Company when he was a teenager before jumping to the science fiction book 2000 A.D. where he even worked on the cover for the book’s first issue. He later did first full story via the Judge Dredd Summer Special in 1977.
With regards to his partnership with Alan Moore, they first worked together on a backup story for the DC Comics series Omega Men.
They also did Green Lantern Corps Annual 1986.
Years later, the pair worked on “League” under Moore’s comic book imprint/company, America’s Best Comics or ABC.
Our condolences for O’Neill’s family and friends for their loss. The industry has lost yet another great talent.
