SDCC 2022 – New images from the X-Men ’97 Panel includes new look for Storm and Magneto and new villains

Somebody just shared today a look at the images flashed during the special X-Men ’97 panel from SDCC 2022 which gives us a new look at the returning characters, some new regulars to the series and an updated look for the master of magnetism himself, Magneto.

For starters, we get a good look at the returning team to this series and its still the main cast of the X-Men: The Animated Series with the only difference being Storm rocking a new hairstyle much like her classic “mohawk” cut from the 80s. It’s also been revealed that the original voice cast will be returning to lend their voices again for the series.

There will also be a number of regular guest characters making an appearance in the first season of X-Men ’97 and they include:

Sunspot
Morph
Cable
Bishop
Forge
Nightcrawler

And there are also a ton of new villains including the obvious Sentinels…

and new villains that will be appearing here includes:

Valerie Cooper
Sebastian Shaw
Mr Sinister
Emma Frost
Calisto of the Morlocks

During the panel it was also revealed that Valerie Cooper’s here in this lineup because she has an agenda against the mutants and the showrunners even stated that people should never trust Cooper. And rightly so because even in the comics she was always up to something while her counterpart Henry Peter Gyrich was doing the same to the Avengers.

But the biggest surprise here is that Magneto will be following his comic book counterpart in the 80s when he joined the X-Men and took over the headmaster role was Charles Xavier was away. He also got a new costume which was what they showed in the SDCC panel…
