Comedian and beauty pageant contestant Herlene Budol aka Hipon Girl is getting online flak for her recent shoot for Binibining Pilipinas
She was called out on social media because of the both the use of the afro hairstyle and at the same time the caption where the main message was that her afro is empowering her. She writes:

“the act of taking or using things from a culture that is not your own, especially without showing that you understand or respect this culture,”
