Catch Up: Amazing Spider-Man # 1 – 2 Spoilers
I didn’t even realize that the new volume of ASM had already started so for my benefit and yours, lets do an Amazing Spider-Man # 1 – 2 spoilers post to get back on track on the life of Peter Parker and his immediate supporting cast.
So before we proceed SPOILER ALERT for the first four issues of Marvel’s Amazing Spider-Man books written by Zeb Wells with art by John Romita Jr.
Amazing Spider-Man # 1
The main mystery for this new volume is what happened to Peter Parker and why do we find him in the middle of a smoky crater outside New York.
And then we do a six month time skip. Nobody knew what happened to him since but he returns to NYC. Aunt May is super upset with Peter because he lied to her.
He’s also alienated himself from Randy Robertson, his former roomate and the son of his former boss Robbie Robertson.
And he hasn’t even contacted Mary Jane Watson since he disappeared for six months. He couldn’t even call her now that he’s back.
Meanwhile in another part of town, the different mob bosses have gathered in order to settle some issues including their decision on The Rose aka Richard Fisk and Tombstone.
Tomstone and Rose set up a deal to show his vote of confidence.
Peter is asked to come be Randy’s wingman as he asks permission to marry Tombstone’s daughter. Before he can leave, Johnny Storm aka Human Torch appears to check up and Spidey and berate him a little bit too.
Peter sees Randy and Tombstone getting alone and also spots White Rabbit with some of Tombstone’s goons going somewhere. He follows them as Spider-Man and finds an arms deal in progress with White Rabbit giving The Rose’s men a discarded Goblin Glider. Spidey interferes, gets caught in a crossfire with Digger fighting him. Spidey saves some lives and tries to track down Digger and Rose’s men.
The issue ends with Peter finally calling MJ and MJ brushes him off while acting very sus.
In retaliation for the embarassment, Rose gets even by bombing Tombstone’s house.
And this prompts Tombstone to confront Peter Parker to send his threat to Spider-Man.
As Peter goes home, Mary Jane Watson looks from the window…
Turns out she has a new boyfriend and a new family. She’s playing mommy too.
And for an end credit scene, we have the fate of Otto Octavius.
Amazing Spider-Man # 2
In ASM # 2 we see a surprise appearance by Norman Osborn who calls in a favor to Parker which has not yet been revealed.
Turns out he wants Parker to take care of his grandsons while he’s doing business with Alchemax.
Meanwhile, Tombstone begins enacting his plan which is a cause for concern for his daughter aka Beetle or Lady Beetle.
But Tombstone sends his daughter on a vacation with Randy Robertson.
Spider-Man drops off the Osborn kids and hunts down Tombstone’s men who tell Spidey what he plans to do against Rose.
Only White Rabbit just sprung the trap for her boss.
Somewhere else, Tombstone shows his muscles and kidnaps the villain known as Crime Master.
Spider-Man catches up with Tombstone and the truck.
Only for him to be beaten up badly by Tombstone and then kidnapped.
