Jon Snow returns for new Game of Thrones sequel series from HBO
The Hollywood Reporter has shared news that there will be a Game of Thrones sequel that will focus on Kit Harington’s Jon Snow and set right after the events of Game of Thrones’ final season.
According to the report, the Jon Snow sequel is currently on early production with nothing much going on. At least we have an idea that HBO plans to do something about the horrible ending of Season 8.
We can only speculate that the new series will follow Jon back with his brothers at the Night’s Watch which has a wall that has fallen thanks to the Night King and his dragon. This could revisit past plots that were left dangling and even give us the chance to see more of the world outside Westeros.
One thing’s for sure, we won’t be seeing Daenerys Targaryen here because Jon made sure his aunt is dead after suddenly going mad after burning King’s Landing towards the end of the series.
I do wonder how actor Kit Harington would do this series while at the same time committing to future Marvel Studios projects. He will soon be the Black Knight aka Dane Whitman and when we last saw him he was hatching a plan to save his girlfriend Sersi (Gemma Chan) who was taken by the Celestial Arishem at the end of Marvel’s The Eternals.
This also leads to The Eternals post-credit scene where Dane whips out the Ebony Blade and we get to hear the voice of Mahershala Ali’s Blade the Vampire Hunter.
And since we’re dealing with The Eternals, we should just throw in the scene introducing Harry Knowles as Star Fox…
