Todd Phillips announces Joker 2 movie
Joker director has revealed the script to the upcoming Joker 2 film which is apparently titled Joker: Folie a Deux…
Check out the photos that were posted on Phillips’ Instagram account earlier today!
At first I really was apprehensive about this but its not April Fools Day today so there must be a shred of truth to this. Plus I remember when Todd Phillips got the director job for the first Joker movie, he did the same thing.
Here’s another photo of Phillips together with the script…
The first Joker movie was released in 2019 and starred Joaquin Phoenix, Robert De Niro, Zazie Beetz, Frances Conroy. It earned a total of $1.074 billion in the box office and was counted as the 6th biggest movie of 2019.
It was also responsible for giving actor Joaquin Phoenix multiple awards during the succeeding awards season including an Academy Award for Best Actor, a BAFTA Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role, a Critics’ Choice Movie Award for Best Actor, a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor – Motion Picture Drama, and a Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role.
What is Folie a Deux?
According to several sources:
Folie à deux (‘folly of two’, or ‘madness [shared] by two’), also known as shared psychosis or shared delusional disorder (SDD), is a psychiatric syndrome in which symptoms of a delusional belief, and sometimes hallucinations, are transmitted from one individual to another. The same syndrome shared by more than two people may be called folie à… trois (‘three’) or quatre (‘four’); and further, folie en famille (‘family madness’) or even folie à plusieurs (‘madness of several’).
And it is an apt usage of the word since by the end of the first movie, Arthur Fleck has embraced his madness and at the same time become a symbol of uprising for the poor and disenfranchised living in Gotham City.
