Marvel is killing the Spider-Verse soon with The End of the Spider-Verse storyline starting with anthology book Edge of Spider-Verse

Marvel has officially begun rolling the ball towards the upcoming End of the Spider-Verse storyline by announce the 5 issue anthology book titled Edge of Spider-Verse with writer Dan Slott!

OK so it looks like Marvel is doing something with the Spider-Verse story which started with Spider-Verse followed by Spider-Geddon and now this, End of the Spider-Verse. But before we get to that book which is slated for release 2022, we will go through stories of variant Spider-Men and women via Edge of Spider-Verse with Dan Slott writting all five books in this anthology.

Check out the solicits for these issues…

edge (’ej) noun – 1. outermost limit of an object – 2. the sharp side of a blade

The leading edge of the Spider-Verse brought you Spider-Gwen and Peni Parker. This final edge will introduce you to some of the most important characters in the future of the Spider-Verse…but it will also slice the final strand of the web.

And get to know your antagonist for this huge story!

Edge of Spider-Verse #3 (Of 5)
Dan Slott and more! (W) • Mark Bagley and more! (A)
Cover by Josemaria Casanovas • Variant Cover by Kris Anka

In this issue! Spider-Man: India! And Night-Spider!

Wait, who is Night-Spider?!

Interestingly enough, a new Spider-Verse run could also mean more new Spider-beings crawling out of the woodwork such as Night Spider which is Felicia Hardy aka Black Cat getting bitten by the radioactive spider instead of Peter Parker. This sets up a lot of fun possibilities for this variant version of Felicia. There’s also the Spider-Man/Kraven the Hunter hybrid known as Hunter Spider which was designed by esteemed Spidey artist Mark Bagley.

And for the Scottish/Irish lads and lasses out there, this anthology will also introduce Spider-Laird. Spider-Laird, co-created with artist Martin Coccolo, Slott says proudly, is “the first kilt-wearing hero of the Spider-Verse.” According to Slott, this new costume “will give cosplayers more freedom of movement and a chance to let their knees breathe.”
