Morbius post-credit scenes explained
With Morbius now officially out locally, let’s do a brief discussion on the two Morbius post-credit scenes and how this could be an interesting next few years for the Sony/ Spider-Man film franchise.
Before we proceed, SPOILER ALERT
Last chance. If you’re not sure whether you want to read up or not, you could probably just read my Morbius review to see my thoughts about the film.
Now let’s go.
The first Morbius post-credit scene is directly related to the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home. It’s actually a reverse of what has happened with Tom Hardy’s Eddie Brock in both Venom 2 and No Way Home. In this scene, the same lights appeared above New York and Adrian Toomes (Michael Keaton) materializes from an empty prison cell. Keaton looks around his new world and we cut to news coverage surrounding him and his mysterious appearance. It’s also inferred that Toomes walks free because there’s no case against him in this universe as opposed to the Marvel Cinematic Universe where he was sentenced to prison for his crime spree during Spider-Man: Homecoming.
The second scene is set sometime after the film’s climax.
We see Michael Morbius following a GPS out in the desert speeding along a car in the middle of the night. He gets down and looks at his watch and spots something moving extremely fast in the distance. Turns out this is Adrian Toomes once again, now wearing his Vulture armor from “Homecoming” and still in this world. Apparently he has set up a meeting with Jared Leto’s Michael Morbius to form a team of some sorts to “do good”.
Then the screen turns to black.
It looks like the various movie projects that Sony Pictures is pushing for will ultimately lead to their long-planned Sinister Six movie all the while replacing the familiar faces of that Spider-Man rogues gallery with different characters.
Still not sure if I should get hyped for this project but it could also mean that they are probably going to add in Aaron Taylor-Johnson’s Kraven the Hunter to this list and possibly Madame Webb too.
And let’s not forget this guy who was yanked back to his native reality at the end of No Way Home while leaving a bit of the venom symbiote in the MCU…
So that means they could be announcing one other Spidey villain solo movie down the line.
