POPCOM TO HOST FIRST-EVER PHILIPPINE SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME FAN SCREENING!
With 2022 just around the corner, Marvel fans have reason to rejoice, as local collectibles store Popculture Community (PopCom) ushers in the new year with an exclusive screening of Spider-Man: No Way Home at Eastwood Mall on opening day, January 8!
Organized by store owners Aise Solis, Neil Selva, and John Michael Andaluz, with the assistance of Marco Concepcion, the screening is the PopCom’s way of celebrating the New Year while giving back to collectors who have supported them since their earliest days. Starting out as an online retailer of Funko products before teaming up with retailers such as Comic Odyssey to include comics and other brands, PopCom is now one of the leading collectible stores in the country, with their main branch and showroom located in Eastwood Mall.
“Sobrang grateful kami sa lahat ng mga fans na sumosoporta sa amin,” says Solis, popularly known in the Funko collecting community as ‘Ate Aise’. “So naisip namin gumawa ng event kung saan pwede tayo makipag-meet at mag-celebrate ng fandom nang magkasama. Two years na rin tayo naka-lockdown, no!”
Spider-Man: No Way Home is the latest Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) film starring actor Tom Holland as popular superhero Spider-Man, and Zendaya as his girlfriend, MJ. Joining this new adventure are villains from previous films, including Willem Dafoe as the Green Goblin, Alfred Molina as Doctor Octopus, and Jamie Foxx as Electro. Promising to unite three generations of Spider-Man films, No Way Home is one of the year’s most anticipated blockbusters.
To join the event, fans can inquire at the physical store or book via PopCom’s social pages. At Php1,300 each, every ticket is inclusive of one Spider-Man-themed Funko Pop! Vinyl figure, and automatically enrolled in the event’s Grand Raffle, where guests stand a chance to win CGC-graded and authenticated Tom Holland-signed copy of Marvel Comics’ Secret Wars #001 or a super rare 2012 edition Spider-Man #15 Funko Pop!
“Iba talaga yung feeling pag nanunuod sa big screen at pwedeng maglabas ng excitement na kasama ang mga fellow fans and collectors,” says Andaluz. “Hope talaga namin na maging successful at masaya yung event na ito.”
Selva, agrees, sharing that the Spider-Man: No Way Home screening is just the first of many exciting fan-centric events PopCom has lined up for the year.
“Marami pa kaming upcoming,” shares Selva. “Marami pa kaming hinahanda na sorpresa para sa mga fans ngayong 2022. Abangan!”
