Dark Horse Comics acquired by Embracer Group
Dark Horse comics acquired by Embracer Group joining other groups and IPs including Gearbox Entertainment, THQ Nordic and more!
The Swedish group known as Embracer Group also owns other properties such as THQ Nordic, Koch Media, Coffee Stain, Amplifier Game Invest, Saber Interactive, DECA Games, Gearbox Entertainment, and Easybrain.
According to reports, Embracer will be entering an agreement to acquire Dark Horse Media LLC based on three core business units. This includes Dark Horse Comics, Dark Horse Entertainment, and Things from Another World.
At the moment of acquisition, Dark Horse also holds over 300 IPs or intellectual properties including popular titles like Berserk and Lone Wolf & Cub.
Aside from this acquisition, the Embracer Group also announced that they have gotten control of DIGIC, Perfect World Entertainment, Shiver Entertainment, and Spotfilm Network.
The transaction is expected to be completed in early 2022, and the purchase price hasn’t been disclosed.
Dark Horse CEO Mike Richardson had this to say about the acquisition:
