New HBO Max Sizzle Reel gives us new Peacemaker footage
A new HBO Max sizzle reel was released recently and it gives us a chance to look at some new Peacemaker footage from the upcoming series directed by James Gunn.
The Peacemaker footage was part of the sizzle reel which aired at the tail end of the 2021 Emmy Awards (where we saw Elizabeth Olsen’s fancy gown). You can check out the HBO Max sizzle reel below.
In the footage for the series, we see our boy Peacemaker played by John Cena parking his souped-up muscle car with the plate number PSS-MKR as he attends a meeting with his handlers and team; the same people we saw attending to him at the end of the film The Suicide Squad. Inside the restaurant, the team asks him why he’s wearing his costume to a meeting to which he answers, it’s not a costume but rather a uniform.
Set to premiere on HBO Max early next year, Peacemaker is an eight-episode series that serves as a follow-up to writer-director James Gunn’s DC Extended Universe film The Suicide Squad, which itself premiered in theaters and on HBO Max earlier this year on Aug. 5. The film marked the live-action debut of the DC Comics character Christopher Smith/Peacemaker, who was originally created by Joe Gill and Pat Boyette and first appeared 1966’s Fightin’ 5 #40.
Peacemaker will also star John Economos (Steve Agee), Emilia Harcourt (Jennifer Holland), Danielle Brooks as Leota Adebayo, Robert Patrick as Auggie Smith (Peacemaker’s father), Freddie Stroma as Adrian Chase/Vigilante and Chukwudi Iwuji as Clemson Murn.
