LIVV SANDBOX DETHRONESFAZE CLAN, CROWNED NEW CHAMPIONS OF EACC AUTUMN 2021

Singapore, 20 September 2021 – Liiv SANDBOX has been crowned the champions of EACC Autumn 2021, emerging victorious among 12 teams from 4 countries. In addition to the title, the team also walked away with the grand prize of $35,000

THE SEMI-FINALS

The final four teams were decided after a knockout stage of 8 teams with the following matchups:

The Semi-finals were held earlier on Sunday, 9th September, featuring BO5 matches between the teams – FaZe Clan, Tony Tonyy, Olympique Lyonnais eSports Team, Liiv SANDBOX.

FaZe Clan vs Tony Tonyy

The first Semi-final featured a one-sided matchup between Thai team, FaZe Clan and Vietnamese team, Tony Tonyy. Varanan (JubJub) from FaZe Clan was in red-hot form and single-handedly defeated all 3 Tony Tonyy players in regular time to propel the defending champions into the Grand Finals. Despite being the first team to qualify for the Semi-finals, Tony Tonyy struggled to find their rhythm and was ultimately no match for the experienced Thai team.

Olympique Lyonnais eSports Team vs Liiv SANDBOX

The other Semi-final was a much closer affair and came down to a fourth match between Chinese team, Olympique Lyonnais eSports Team and Korean team, Liiv SANDBOX. With a 4 -1 victory, EACC Winter 2019 champions Liiv SANDBOX emerged victorious with strong performances from both Chang Yeon Won and Woo Jin Byun. Olympique Lyonnais Esports Team player Yue Yu tried to keep the team’s hopes alive by winning game 2 of the best of 5 match-up with a resounding 3-1 score line but Liiv SANDBOX’s Won Chang Yeon proved too strong in the end and won the next 2 games to lift Liiv SANDBOX into the Grand Finals.

THE GRAND FINAL

The EACC Autumn 2021 Grand Final turned out to be a battle between past winners with defending champions FaZe Clan going up against EACC Winter 2019 title holder Liiv SANDBOX. Nothing could separate the 2 teams’ players in Game 1 after regular time, and had to be settled through a penalty shootout. Woo Jin Byun held his nerves and won that exciting shootout to give Liiv SANDBOX a 1 – 0 lead. However, FaZe Clan’s Sorawit Rotjanasinlapin (Michael04) quickly evened up the score by winning Game 2 with a 2 – 1 score line. Game 3 was another thrilling affair with Liiv SANDBOX winning yet another penalty shootout to gain the ascendency once again. With Liiv SANDBOX only needing to win 1 more game to clinch the EACC Autumn 2021 trophy, Chang Yeon Won did not disappoint and put in a man-of-the-match performance to win another nerve-wreaking penalty shootout and lead Liiv SANDBOX ultimately to victory, winning the EACC Autumn 2021 title and the $35,000 dollar grand prize.
