Speculation begins after Hugh Jackman meeting with Kevin Feige

Speculation goes on hyperdrive after an Instagram post was shared with Hugh Jackman meeting with Kevin Feige from Marvel Studios.

So this has caught fanboys and fangirls into a fever pitch after Hugh Jackman posted a photo on his Instagram story followed by an artwork done by popular artist Bosslogic.

So why is this a big deal?

Mainly because Marvel Studios haven’t stated anything about their plans for the X-Men save for that last minute announcement at D23 a year or two ago, which was also where they revealed cast for upcoming projects like Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Five Rings, Blade the Vampire Hunter with Mahershala Ali, The Eternals led by Angelina Jolie and more.

Before this, we did get a nice nod and possible teaser for Fantastic Four when Marvel Studios released an announcement video for their other new additions like Captain Marvel 2 which has been retitled as The Marvels.

But nothing new has come about for the X-Men. Maybe this will be the first thing that Marvel is trying to secure, getting Hugh Jackman to reprise his role as James Howlett/ Wolverine / Logan for future X-Men related movies which will be produced and distributed by Marvel through Disney. Remember a few years ago, Disney also managed to buy 20th Century Fox thereby gaining ownership of the X-Men license they sold to Fox during Marvel’s troubled years.

As for Jackman, there were a bunch of rumors suggesting that he was open to return as Wolverine for the MCU or Marvel Cinematic Universe but there were no talks yet. Unless this photo is new though, that may not be the case anymore and we can see him return as the feral mutant in the big screen after the epic ending of James Mangold’s Logan movie where his character died to save his clone daughter X-23.
