TCL 10 5G Review

Looking a 5G smartphone that doesn’t break the bank, has good specs and is 5G capable? Here’s my TCL 10 5G review which is now out in the market featuring 6.53-inch screen with Full HD resolution or 395ppi and IPS panel, Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G CPU, Adreno 620 GPU, 6GB RAM, 128GB storage, microSD card up to 1TB (dedicated slot), Quad rear cameras and a 16MP F2.2 front camera with SRP P17,990!

Design

The design for this smartphone is pretty standard. The top features the headphone jack, the bottom houses the USB port (which is Type C by the way) and two speakers.

The 210g aluminum frame glass front and back is has a very stylish design that comes in 2 colors namely Chrome Blue and Mercury Gray.

Display

If you want to really get to the good stuff, we should first look at the display for this smartphone. The TCL 10 5G features 6.53” FHD+ with 1080 x 2340 screen resolution and 395ppi density with 8.35% screen to body ratio. Powered by TCL’s NXTVISION technology you’ll definitely get your money’s worth with the display and the images it displays.

And here’s a sample of what its like to watch Netflix shows using the TCL 10 5G smartphone.

You can see that it will follow the standard aspect ratio of Netflix for smartphones. But there won’t be any chance to really increase the screen size but that’s totally fine.

The TCL 10 5G also features the NXTVISION engine which does image enhancement automatically for you giving you eye-popping gorgeous images that appear in your screen. There’s even an actual app that lets you play around with the image contrast, sharpness and dark details to suit your preference. Users can also switch up the color modes and temperatures. And for the people always outdoors, there are options to increase visuals on your phone when reading or using it under direct sunlight.

Camera

Check out some of the shots I took using the TCL 10 5G’s main camera which features a 64MP AI quad-camera (64MP; wide, 8MP; superwide, 5MP; macro at 2MP; depth) and a 16MP front-facing 26mm selfie camera. You also have two LED lamps on both ends to give more oomph when you opt to do flash photography.

Four cameras all lined up in a neat row may be different from other units but trust me when I say its still good. Or rather the quality is still good.

The super macro also looks good…

And the zoom for the main camera is also topnotch…

Portrait mode also yielded some fine results including a good bokeh effect..

And here’s a sample video taken using the front camera of the TCL 10 5G…

You can shoot videos with 4K resolution with 60fps with EIS and you even get bonus stabilization for your video footage with the EIS system.

Not really a gripe but more of a heads up, the design for the TCL 10 5G for the camera at the rear looks “unconventional”. Rather than having it packed up neatly at one side of the phone, TCL decided to just lay out the cameras in a horizontal manner.

Gaming

In terms of gaming, I’ve tried the phone on three titles namely Genshin Impact, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang and Call of Duty Mobile. All three performed exceptionally well with no lags and very minimal heating issues thanks to the chipset installed in the phone which is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G 5G. The heating issues you can also forgive because of the complexity of these games too.

Battery

This smartphone comes with a 4500mAh built-in battery. The cool part here is that it can go for as long as 11 hours with just a single full charge even when its connected to your mobile data. There’s also fast charging component here where you go from 0 to 37% charge in just 30 minutes using your Type C USB cord.

Final thoughts for the TCL 10 5G

For less than P20,000 the TCL 10 5G provides excellent features and functions. Its loaded with a lot of extra apps and features, is 5G ready and capable and has GREAT camera and video output capabilities. While there are other 5G ready smartphones out there in the same price range, this one is definitely a solid competitor for the best 5G smartphone available in the market today!
