Huawei FreeBuds 4i Review

Here’s my Huawei FreeBuds 4i review which boasts of active noise cancellation and a big charge to last you 10 hours of usage with a single full charge.

Here are main features for the Huawei FreeBuds 4i:

  • Call noise cancellation
  • Clear audio
  • 10 hours playback on a full charge
  • 4 hours music playback on 10 minute charge
  • Active noise cancellation

Design

These earpods look classy and curvy enough. The dock is crazy compact and has minimal moving parts making it less prone to wear and tear. There are actually three variants to choose from namely “Ceramic White”, “Carbon Black” and Red.

There’s a button on the right side for connecting to devices via bluetooth.

The actual buds are definitely a step up from previous versions released in the market. I particularly love the stocky design for the pods. The magnets on the stems are also strong as hell making it harder for the buds to fall off.

The only gripe I do have is that glossy finish for the buds can be challenging to remove when you’ll be using it. Still not enough to discount how good the product is.

Throughout my use of these buds, I also noticed that they feel comfortable to wear in the ear and there’s no “ngawit” even after long hours of use. Plus the touch sensor helps make using the earbuds convenient without giving me any hassle; didn’t even have to bother adjusting the buds unlike other TWS products in the market.

AUDIO and MORE

I love the sound quality of the Freebuds 4i and it shares similarities with other earpods in the market when it comes to the dynamic drivers. This one features a 10mm dynamic driver with no aptX support. Still, at the price range and with all the nifty little things built into it, it provides excellent performance and sound quality.

FEATURES

To really maximize and enjoy the use of the Freebuds 4i, I also suggest you download the Huawei AI Life app which is free on Google Play Store and the Apple App Store. The app helps you give your own personalization to the various functions of the buds. It also helps in setting how you want your music playing in the background whether its soft and melodious or bass-y. Please take note however that there’s no built-in equalizer settings on the AI Life app. That means you need to tinker a bit with your music player of choice.

BATTERY LIFE

The Huawei Freebuds 4i features a 55mAh power cell in each bud while the case features a 215mAh capacity. The battery and power of this product also claims to have 10-hour continuous playback time. That is of course if you turn off some of the features namely the ANC and the volume is dropped to 50%. This is definitely something that pushes the envelope in terms of use and longevity.

Change the variables and you still have a decent product. I turned up the volume to 100% and turned on the ANC or Active Noise Cancelling function and I got a max of 4 hours of continuously play.

Even better is the fact that both the buds and the case only takes a maximum of an hour to charge up. You can also get from 1% to around 50% in a span of 15 minutes.

Sadly, there’s no wireless charging with the 4i, but for me that’s totally fine.
