Jam Magno’s sister asks the public to spare her family from bashing and criticism

Just days after controversial vlogger and social media talent Jam Magno was recently banned on Tiktok, people have begun looking for her online with some showing support while others venting their anger over some of the controversial things she has said. One person who wasn’t too pleased with all the bashing and negative comments directed towards them is Jam Magno’s sister Dia Nicole Magno.

She wrote an open statement about getting negative comments thrown her way, which she says she can take. But what she does not want to tolerate are the negative things people say about her parents who have also become affected by this ordeal with Magno.

On her Facebook page, Dia wrote:

Good day!
I have been receiving so many messages and comments on social media sites about the opinions of my sister.
I would like to reiterate that her personal opinion and stand on matters concerning national interest do not reflect our views as a family or even myself. We are private citizens and we appeal to all of you to respect our privacy as individuals. My family has endured so much from this whole ordeal already and we only wish to be granted respect and peace.
Personally, I do not concern myself with the negativities being hurled my way especially by people who do not personally know me, but I have seen how recent events have affected my family, particularly my parents, and my only hope is that you spare them from the anguish of having to deal with all this hatred. Mental health is an issue I take seriously and I hope people understand the kind of pain and alienation that negative comments can have towards a family that has done nothing to harm anyone.
Another thing I want to clarify is that my family, particularly the ones who live in the same household DID NOT contract covid. We understand the importance of people’s safety and health and we promise you that no one among us, especially the ones who are always present and hands on in any of our restaurants, have been afflicted with the virus.
As we enjoy the democratic space for free speech, we appeal to the public not to malign the integrity of our family especially our dear parents. We want to clarify that we have absolutely no intention of participating in the public discourse involving my sister, nor do we wish to engage with all the malicious and hateful comments that have emerged from this — whether they were made by my sister or by the viewing public. This would be my first and last post to address this issue. We hope and pray for peace for everyone.

I have to agree with her too. Its one thing to be angry with a person or a public figure especially as controversial as Jam Magno but its an entirely different thing to drag the parents and other relatives of the person in question. That’s totally against the unwritten rules when it comes to social media and handling popularity or infamy. But I think this is human nature. Partly people want to get even with the person they loathe and look for other ways to get back at them, in this case at the other relatives of a known supporter of the Duterte administration. But still, there’s a fine line that shouldn’t be crossed and it seems like people have found a way to close that gap and cross that line.
