Check out the announcement of the manga creator’s passing that’s been circulating on social media sites including Twitter.

According to reports Miura passed away at age 54 due to acute aortic dissection on May 6, 2021. His family chose to do a private service for his passing.

The Berserk creator got started in manga with the story Futatabi…” (Once More…) which was published in 1985. This was published in Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine. He then released a Berserk one-shot story in 1988 and the following year started on the Berserk manga series which came out in Hakusensha’s Monthly Animal House. The Berserk manga follows Guts, a superhumanly strong warrior who wields a large sword, as he wanders a dark medieval world filled with demons, corrupt and decadent nobles, and other horrors. Every night, he is assailed by demons, attracted to the curse branded on him after a traumatic event. He makes his way through the world on a quest to slay a former friend turned demon, who took everything away from him.

Since then the Berserk franchise has hellspawned a 1997 TV series, an anime film trilogy released between 2012 to 2013. There also was a second anime series in Japan released July 2016 and the latest that came out in April 2017.

Sadly it looks like Guts’ adventure will never be finished. But we give our condolences to Miura’s family and pray for his soul.
