PLDT supports first-ever digital Dinagyang Festival, promoting culture and arts

PLDT, the country’s largest integrated telco, supported the digital celebration of the world-class Dinagyang Festival in Iloilo. With the pandemic forcing the whole world to become more digital, the Dinagyang Festival took place online as Iloilo celebrated the Feast of Señor Sto. Niño, the festivities and the tradition from the comfort of their homes.

With PLDT as the festival’s official broadband provider, the Dinagyang Digital 2021 was streamed through multiple platforms such as the festival’s official website, Facebook and YouTube.

Promoting culture and the arts, PLDT was one of the sponsors of the Miss Iloilo Dinagyang Warrior Fashion Show held at the Megaworld Atrium, Festive Mall in Iloilo City. The fashion show is one of the major events of the much-anticipated Dinagyang Digital 2021. This fashion show was presented in an all-new concept where the Miss Iloilo 2020 winners and candidates wore colorful Dinagyang warrior costumes that embodied the olden Ilonggo women “babaylans” as powerful and dominant.

“PLDT has always been a big supporter of the culture and arts. It is with great enthusiasm that we take part in Iloilo’s first-ever digital Dinagyang Festival. A world-class event, Dinagyang is truly a platform for cultural appreciation that embodies the country’s creativity and ingenuity,” said PLDT Community Relations Head Katherine P. Diaz De Rivera.

Diaz De Rivera also underscored the continuous efforts of the company to support the country’s fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Part of our initiatives is to help ensure the health and safety of the public amid the pandemic. To show our gratitude to our frontline heroes, we also turned over hygiene kits to the Iloilo COVID Task Force,” Diaz De Rivera said.

PLDT Home also offered a special Fibr Dinagyang Sale headlined by the Unli Fibr Plan 2399 which offers speeds of up to 50mbps, to help customers have the ultimate festival experience at home.

Meanwhile, PLDT wireless subsidiary Smart Communications (Smart) also powered some of the festival’s line-up of activities, including the Dinagyang Smart Night 2021, a virtual concert featuring alternative rock band Hale, Philpop Winner Reon, and social media influencer Inka Magnaye, which was streamed on Smart’s official Facebook page.

During the event, subscribers also got a chance to be one of the lucky winners of GIGAMANIA, which features exciting prizes every week, such as phones, free data, GigaPoints, P1 million cash and a chance to win P10 million in the grand draw. To participate, subscribers registered for the raffle on the GigaLife app and load up to earn and accumulate GigaPoints for their raffle entries. GIGAMANIA is open to all Smart Prepaid, Smart Postpaid, Smart Bro, and TNT subscribers until April 2021.
