Display

The display is great. It features a great build. The screen looks sturdy for use on a daily basis and its got the biggest display so far. Also the resolution 1640 x 720 is going to be a dream for people who want to spend hours playing games or binge watching on their smartphone. The aspect ratio’s also really decent too.

Design

I have to say for a phone with a 7-inch display, it doesn’t feel like I’m lugging along a big phone. It’s so compact and smooth that the only thing I wanted to get an upgraded version with higher specs for main and front cameras as well as a genuinely grand processor.

As it stands though the sheer “compact-ness” of the phone is a wonder. Volume rocker and power button on the right plus the Google Assistant button on the left sure feels nice. Although I’m giving major minus points for the Google Assistant because I have disdain for that little thing and its inclusion in several phones that are still out in the market.

Let me also do a quick shot on the phone’s back design.

I gotta say for the price range, and as an entry level smartphone, the tecno pouvoir 4’s back design sure looks like a winner. It’s one of those phones that you’d rather get a jelly case than a hard case to show off the design.

Not too shabby also for the fingerprint scanner although it does gets some hiccups and misses from time to time but that’s OK in my book.

Camera

13MP may not sound a lot but its definitely a good camera especially when you just need to take photos and record videos. By extension, this is a good phone to have when you or your kids are doing “online learning”. It’s not too shoddy when it comes to image quality too.

Some of the modes on the camera include:

  • AI Camera
  • Beauty
  • Portrait
  • AR Shot
  • Wide Selfie

Battery

TECNO wasn’t kidding when they focused their marketing efforts on “power” because the battery on this bad boy is INSANE! The 6000mAh battery was what really impressed me a lot for this TECNO Pouvoir 4 Review! I’ve been streaming movies through Netflix and playing games here and there and I’ve only reached 50%. And I’m already at my third day of using the smartphone.

UX/UI

The Pouvoir 4 is running on Android 10 and has the HiOS that’s pretty much Tecno’s own brand. The interface on the phone is easy to work on.

And it also has a number of “current generation” features including Game Mode and Smart Panel.

There’s also an “app cabinet” which you can access when you swipe up on the home screen.

Gaming

In terms of gaming, I am also floored that this product can do well. I was expecting heating issues and lags but for basic games, its quite good. I did a short test with Asphalt Legends with ultra settings on and I’m very happy with the gaming experience it brought about. I did good too with Mobile Legends and Call of Duty Mobile.

TECNO Pouvoir 4 Review – Verdict

Pros

  • Great price with equal levels of quality and functionality
  • I love the size of the display (comparative to its price)
  • Good gaming experience
  • Decent camera
  • Wooh. The battery is AMAZING. 6000mAh can really go a long way especially in this day and age.

Cons

  • Front camera needs a bit of improvement (which could be done through software updates anyway)
  • The useless Google Assistant is still an eyesore
  • Speakers on the phone is meh
