Iman Vellani cast as Kamala Khan for the Disney+ Series Ms. Marvel

Disney+ has recently announced that they have cast actress Iman Vellani to play the lead role in the Disney+ series Ms Marvel!

Deadline reports that the series has tapped the newcomer to star in the Disney+ series centered on Kamala Khan, a Pakistani-American teenager from New Jersey which first appeared in 2014. She is also the first Muslim character from the Marvel books to have her own TV series which is one HUGE step for the company.

And get this, Kevin Feige stated in a recent interview that aside from her small screen appearance, Vellani’s Kamala Khan will appear in future Marvel projects including movies; so the character is getting a big push.

And let’s not forget about Kamala’s role in the Avengers game from Crystal Dynamics…

 One thing that I’m really curious to know is how they would connect MCU Kamala to Captain Marvel (Brie Larson) because in the comics, Kamala took the name Ms. Marvel as a way to pay tribute to her idol Ms. Marvel aka Carol Danvers. But since the MCU Captain Marvel never had the same roots in the comics and based on current appearances isn’t really that awe-inspiring yet for the people, will they even connect the two heroes and that significant legacy.
