TMNT Project The Last Ronin Delayed to October with new art team

The much-hyped Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles project by Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird called The Last Ronin has been pushed back to October 2020 with some new art team members to boot.

So this miniseries was originally a story from Peter Laird and Kevin Eastman which was outlined way back in 1987 at the height of the Turtles’ popularity. The story was set in 2017 and was the story of an unspecified turtle surviving in a desolate future. It was picked up after the co-creators joined up again and some elements were changed including the story being set in 2040 instead of 2017.

The book is also expected run for five issues and will have a cover price of $8.99. Pretty heavy I know but we should expect some quality and a lot of nostalgia for this.

Now here comes the kicker. It looks like The Last Ronin would be getting a creative makeover with new artists  Esau Escorza and Isaac Escorza joining the team. We don’t know yet what happens to Andy Kuhn but reports are already pointing out that his name is no longer appearing in the most recent solicits for the book.

Bleedingcool.com suggests that the change for artist was brought about by the poor reception for the sample pages that were shared online. It looks like they wanted a bigger bang and bigger buzz and the current art just doesn’t cut it.
