Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Announced featuring Pike and Spock

Aside from the Picard solo series starring Patrick Stewart, Star Trek fans are in for a treat because we are also getting a new Star Trek spinoff series called Star Trek: Strange New Worlds which will feature the adventures of Captain Pike and Mr. Spock.

The CBS has announced that this would be a season long run and would focus on the adventures of the Enterprise’s first commanding officers namely Captain Pike (Anson Mount, Black Bolt from The Inhumans) and Mr Spock (Ethan Peck). They will also be joined by Number One (played by Rebecca Romijn, Mystique).

The duo first appeared in the Star Trek: Discovery season 2 and had a bit of a run in that series before bowing out at the end of the season, an obvious ploy to set up the new series.

Akiva Goldsman returns to write the season. The writer also did previous work on Star Trek: Picard and Star Trek: Discovery which means that this would be a cohesive story that may or may not connect with the other stories and series. Goldsman also commented “This is a dream come true, literally,” Goldsman said in a statement. “I have imagined myself on the bridge of the Enterprise since the early 1970s. I’m honored to be a part of this continuing journey along with Alex, [executive producer] Henry [Alonso Myers] and the fine folks at CBS.”

Also can I just say that the gold costumes for these guys looks really, really awesome.

And there’s more Star Trek goodness where that came from as there are other projects being worked at the moment for CBS All Access including an animated project called Star Trek: Lower Decks and a untitled series starring Michelle Yeoh’s Philippa Georgiou and the nefarious Section 31.
