Young Vito Song “Awit” Removed from Spotify after Transphobic Backlash on Social Media
Local artist Young Vito has garnered criticism and controversy over his track called “Awit” because its been deemed by many as transphobic in nature and now it looks like the track has been removed from Spotify.
So apparently, the video below went trending and has been produced into a full blown track by the artist. And when I say it was “produced”, its got the hip-hop production value done in the studio with professional equipment and all that. But here’s the source of everything.
Meanwhile, after the continued calling out on Twitter, Spotify has removed the Young Vito song. You can see the screenshot below.
Previously users could stream the song on Spotify, there’s even a tweet that exists promoting the song.
Twitter user and trans woman @Gigiesguerra also posted ways on how to report the track…
I URGE EVERYONE TO EMAIL SPOTIFY: support@spotify.com
Let them now that the song is a form of HATE SPEECH. And according to their terms and guidelines, this song should be taken down. pic.twitter.com/3DSL1cDLWs
