TSA now letting Star Wars Thermal Detonator Coke Bottles in after saying no earlier

There’s a small controversy surrounding those Coca-Cola bottles shaped like thermal detonators you can buy at Disney’s Star Wars; Galaxy’s Edge

A Twitter user originally asked the the US’ Transportation Security Agency or TSA whether these grenade looking bottles sold at the attraction would be allowed. The official Twitter account replied with a “no”.

Recently though, the office had issued an updated ruling on their stance on the Thermal Detonator coke bottles…

The issue concerning Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge-themed soda bottles has recently been brought to our attention by the general public, as these items could reasonably be seen by some as replica hand grenades. We appreciate the concerns being raised, because replica explosives are not permitted in either carry-on or checked bags. We have completed our review, and instructed our officers to treat these as an oversized liquid. Because these bottles contain liquids larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters), they should be put in checked baggage or emptied to be brought on as carry-on item. TSA officers will maintain the discretion to prohibit any item through the screening checkpoint if they believe it poses a security threat.

It doesn’t directlt affect Pinoy fans but since you’ll be flying these bad boys back home, you may or may not get into trouble when the TSA officers find these thermal detonator themed drinks in your pack or suitcase.

At keast now, you don’t have to go all Princess Leia and threaten people with the damned thing just to get what you want.

You can buy these cool looking souvenirs at Disneyland in California and Disney World in Florida.
