Smart Carrier Billing now available for App Store, Apple Music & iTunes
Beginning today, Aug. 15, Filipinos will have an easier and more convenient way of buying all the apps and content they love as Smart pioneers Carrier Billing for App Store, Apple Music and iTunes.
With Smart Carrier Billing, mobile users can conveniently charge their App Store, Apple Music, and iTunes purchases across Apple devices to their Smart Prepaid load or Smart Postpaid bill — providing a safe, secure and versatile payment method to meet the Philippines’ growing demand for digital entertainment. This feature makes it easier for subscribers to enjoy all the apps they love, with one easy way to pay.
“For the longest time, the need for a credit or debit card has kept many Filipinos from maximizing the full potential of their iOS devices. By introducing Smart Carrier Billing, we are eliminating this barrier and therefore empowering our customers to truly embrace the digital lifestyle with easy access to millions of paid iOS apps and digital content at their fingertips,” said Oscar A. Reyes, SVP and Head of Individual Consumer Business.
How it works: Making payments with Smart Carrier Billing
Signing up for Smart Carrier Billing takes only a few simple steps. Smart customers need to have a new or existing Apple ID, and select “Mobile Phone” as their payment method from their account settings on App Store, Apple Music, and iTunes from their iPhone, iPad, iPod touch and Mac, or on iTunes from their PC.
Once “Mobile Phone” has been selected, all future purchases with the customer’s Apple ID will be automatically charged as part of the monthly Smart Postpaid bill or directly deducted from their Smart Prepaid load — eliminating the need to use a credit card.
The new payment option will be configured automatically and immediately allow for easy, one-tap purchasing from all Apple devices, including Apple TV and Apple Watch. This includes purchases of apps, music, movies, TV shows, as well as Apple Music subscriptions and iCloud storage. No personal information will be shared with any third parties, making carrier billing both simple and safe to set up and use.
Smart subscribers can make the most of their digital lifestyle powered by Smart LTE, the country’s undisputed fastest mobile network, as awarded by third-party organizations such as Ookla, OpenSignal, Tutela, and P3 in their respective crowd-source-based studies on mobile internet services in the Philippines.
