SDCC 2019: Mahershala Ali cast as new Blade from Marvel Studios
Academy award winner Mahershala Ali cast as the new Blade dor a new movie under Marvel Studios.
The “Green Book” actor was called led out during the Marvel Studios Phase 4 panel in this year’s San Diego Comic Con 2019.
Here’s a look at the official logo for the new Blade movie.
No word yet on when the film will be released or who’s directing it but the casting of Ali along is as juicy as the neck of a vampire’s unfortunate victim.
Wondering though how much they’ll be taking from the previous Blade movie which starred Wesley Snipes as the Daywalker. That was a franchise that ran for three movies concluding with Blade Trinity.
Over the years since he returned to Hollywood, Snipes had been actively campaigning to get the Blade role again. But that campaign may not have ended anywhere. He did get a nice cameo as a daywalking vampire in “What we do in the Shadows” TV series together with other vampire actors like Tilda Swinton and even Danny Trejo.
Meanwhile the comic book character Blade has also gone through some big status quo changes namely officially becoming a member of The Avengers. He was called in to help out the team with the rising crisis of a vampire civik war. With two forces currently fighting for dominance. On one side we have the classic Dracula and on the other side we have rhe new character Shadow Colonel who has given the team a lot of trouble as of late.
