James Gunn Back as Guardians of the Galaxy 3 Director!

We did it! Disney has made it official! James Gunn Back as Guardians of the Galaxy 3 Director!

Deadline broke the news of Gunn’s reinstatement by Disney; and was then corroborated by the director’s representatives!

Gunn was sacked last year after various tweets he did in the past surfaced where he made lots of pedophile jokes. Of course Disney did not want anything to do with that so they immediately fired him from the project. Most of the stars of the film were vocal (which to be honest felt very fake…)

Except for Dave Bautista aka Batista, who was ready to jump ship with Gunn on Suicide Squad 2. In hindsight though, it looks like Batista already knew that Gunn was coming back to the film.

His phone was ringing the day after with Marvel,” Bautista said. “He’s bouncing back, big time. In the next 6 to 8 months, next year, you’re gonna see James Gunn bounce back in a huge way, which is gonna be a huge statement and real vindication.

Gunn had apologized about those tweets saying that he was a “very different person” then. Meanwhile at the time of the firing Alan Horn of Disney had this to say:

The offensive attitudes and statements discovered on James’ Twitter feed are indefensible and inconsistent with our studios’ values, and we have severed our business relationship with him.

So James Gunn Back as Guardians of the Galaxy 3 Director? Hell yes! And we also have Suicide Squad 2 on the horizon!
