Ghost Rider Undergoes Horrific Transformation to Look like Vengeance (Avengers # 14)

Last week’s Avengers # 14 gave us a lot of cool moments for the Avengers as they enter the vampire Civil War. In the chaos that surrounds the world readers are left to witness a shocking transformation for the team’s youngest member, Robbie Reyes aka Ghost Rider. Here’s a spoiler page from Avengers # 14 by Jason Aaron.

The Shadow Colonel surrenders to the Avengers and he is brought to Avengers Mountain for interrogation. While this is happening above, Robbie Reyes is downstairs thinking when a mysterious voice starts an incantation that drastically affects Robbie. Its revealed that it was the vampiric creature called Sarge who was doing the chant that went like this:

In the name of Mephisto. In the name of Lord Marduk the Morningstar. In the name of Zatahor and Zadkiel. In the name of Eli Morrow and whatever other masters you might be serving above or below. In the name of Vengeance, I invoke you.

By the end of the chant, Ghost Rider has completely changed his appearance…

He actually looks like the 90s character Vengeance now.

Vengeance was a 90’s antihero character that appeared in Ghost Rider books. He was one of the last few remaining Spirits of Vengeance who took over a man named Michael Badilino.

He’s pretty much the anti-thesis to Danny Ketch and Johnny Blaze in the sense that the two had a more moral way of punishing sinners. Vengeance on the other hand was more violent and brutal towards sinners. Its these methods that has put him in odds with the heaven sent riders.

Will this be a permanent change for Reyes? Will he be making more connections to the previous Ghost Riders? Have you picked up Avengers # 14 yet?
