James Gunn Directing and Writing Suicide Squad 2

Former Guardians of the Galaxy writer and director James Gunn will official do Warner Bros. Pictures and DC Comics’ Suicide Squad 2.

The director for the two GotG movies was sacked last year by Disney and Marvel Studios after some rather controversial photos and tweets were dragged by political personalities in retaliation to Gunn’s criticism about the current US government.

Despite several protests from his friends including Batista aka Dave Bautista.

Hollywood Reporter writes that Suicide Squad 2 will be produced by Zack Snyder and Deborah Snyder and will have Gunn write a “soft reboot”.

DC Daily host Tiffany Smith was even quoted saying:

It’s official that we have got a new member of the DC family: acclaimed writer/director James Gunn has been attached to write Suicide Squad 2. Gunn is poised to bring a completely fresh take to the franchise after the first film was written and directed by David Ayer.

Its also been reported that the original director and writer for Suicide Squad 2, Gavin O’Connor ditched the existing story because it resembled the currently in-production Birds of Prey movie which also stars Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn once more.

The first Suicide Squad movie starred a who’s who of actors and actresses and received negative reviews and criticisms. It starred Will Smith as Deadshot, Viola Davis as Amanda Waller, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Jared Leto as Joker, Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flagg and Cara Delavigne as Enchantress.
