Cannonball Just Proved How Powerful He Is Again – Uncanny X-Men # 5

This week’s Uncanny X-Men # 5 reaffirms that Sam Guthrie aka Cannonball is a force to be reckoned with.

During a mission in a European nation where Magneto and Angel have been dispatched into, the X-Men square off against the civilians and local army.

Storm and Polaris team up to fight Magneto while Psylocke tries to talk some sense into her ex-boyfriend, Angel aka Warren Worthington III. During the fight, Cannonball takes point and pushes Angel to outer space for a breather.

While this stalls the Horseman of Salvation for a few minutes, he ends up back on Earth.

What’s downplayed here is how powerful Cannonball is being able to go to space with only a bomber jacket for protection.

Maybe this was part of his stay with the Avengers and being a dad too and a husband to Smasher.

We need to see more of Sam growing up and showing his incredible powers too. It’s been awhile since he took centerstage.
