A Fan Favorite Character Gets Shot in the Head – Batman # 55

Spoilers for Batman # 55 written by Tom King with art by Tony Daniel and we talk about a fan-favorite character getting his head shot by the returning baddie known as KGBeast.

So the whole issue sets up a tragic ending by painting a fun and otherwise “light” patrol night for Batman and visiting “chum” Nightwing. Nightwing’s been in Gotham since last issue with the intention of checking up on Bruce Wayne after the sad ending for Batman # 50.

The beat up mummies, kick ass and even have a competition. Before the end of the book, we get to also see what the KGBeast plans to do as he slowly goes through the motions of running his mysterious mission.

Batman and Nightwing is then seen responding to a summon via Bat-Signal by Jim Gordon. Commissioner Gordon talks about mysterious incidences around Gotham City including a nod to The War of Jokes and Riddles.

In a shocking twist ending, KGBeast takes down Dick Grayson…

With his mission a success, KGBeast leaves his sniper’s nest. Things are looking grimmer and grimmer for Batman with most of the “Family” either becoming estranged or having a fallout. That was a truly shocking ending for Batman # 55. I heard of this happening but was expecting it to unfold at another point. As for Nightwing, there will be a new status quo for Dick starting with Nightwing # 50.
