Nick Spencer and Ryan Ottley Announced as New Amazing Spider-Man # 1 Creative Team
Marvel has announced the new creative team for the Amazing Spider-Man books under the “Fresh Start” banner and its none other than Nick Spencer (Doctor Strange: Damnation) and Ryan Ottley (Invincible).
The new duo will be replacing Dan Slott who had been writing Spider-Man for a full decade now, giving us great stories (and bad ones too like Spider-Man: One Moment in Time). Ottley and Spencer will be going back to basics according to their interview with Comicbook.com, meaning we get to see the classic “Parker Luck” once more. Plus that’s how Spider-Man really kicked off back in the Silver Age, he was the most relatable character in comics. He was just this kid with X amount of problems that he has to juggle with his superheroics because he’s driven by the loss of his Uncle Ben due in part because of his inaction.
This was also the reason why Bendis’ Ultimate Spider-Man: Ultimate Collection, Vol. 1 was such a big hit when it came out too.
No word on who the supporting cast would be but based on the interview, it felt like characters like Mary Jane, Black Cat, Aunt May Parker and J. Jonah Jameson will all be part of Spider-Man’s life.
