Upcoming Lion King movie Cuts “Be Prepared”

Fan-favorite song “Be Prepared” won’t be be sung in the live action adaptation of The Lion King according to Elton John.

Elton John was recently interviewed about the project which will be directed by Iron Man director Jon Favreau.

In the interview, John states:
There’s going to be four of our songs in the film, from the original: ‘Can You Feel The Love Tonight?’ ‘Hakuna Matata,’ ‘I Just Can’t Wait To Be King,’ and ‘Circle of Life’. And then there will be an end, closing song, and we’ve been speaking to Beyoncé’s people and hopefully Tim and I and her can cook up something. That’s going out in 2019 as well. And it will be great to work with her. So we will see.

The song was performed for the film by Jeremy Irons who also voiced Scar. The track did not get the Oscar nod but through the years, it has garnered fan favorite status.

Sadly, Irons will not be reprising his role as Scar. Instead Doctor Strange’s Chiwetel Ejiofor will be taking over as Simba’s nefarious uncle.

The Lion King stars Beyoncé, Donald Glover, James Earl Jones, John Oliver and Chiwetel Ejiofor. It opens 2019.
