Black Widow Isn’t Dead – Secret Empire Omega
One of the shocking deaths that happened in Marvel’s Secret Empire was Black Widow’s death. But did she really die?
In Secret Empire Omega, Captain America and Hydra Cap discuss the actions and events that has happened during the short HYDRA takeover of the United States. One of their points of discussion wandered into the people that died under Nazi Cap’s reign.
The scene is juxtaposed elsewhere in Natasha’s funeral where Hawkeye breaks down…
Meanwhile Bucky continues to search for Black Widow in parts unknown. We find him attending a rally.
The Winter Soldier isnt a pushover so he knows his stuff including a style for sniping targets. He’s also familiar with Natasha’s style. Witnessing the assassination just confirmed that Black Widow is indeed alive and did not die during the events of Secret Empire.
Or maybe she’s still dead and there’s somebody running around destroying Widow’s heroic legacy.
What’s next for these characters? Well we already saw a cover for Tales of Suspense # 100 which will be written by Matthew Rosenberg.
Here’s what Rosenberg stated about “Tales”…
But seriously, yes, we are following Hawkeye and Bucky as they try to unravel a mystery around Natasha’s death. It’s equal parts spy book and team-up, with some crazy superheroics thrown in for good measure. I think what makes the book fun is putting the two of them together because, no, they aren’t really friends. Both are men who have seen and done some tough things, done their time as villains, but how they came out of that is where they differ. Hawkeye is fun and nonchalant about everything, perhaps covering for things, but very easy going. And Bucky is very intense and focused. And their differences spread to what they think is happening and how to approach it. They don’t particularly work well together and they don’t particularly like each other, but they both love Natasha and want to honor her memory.
Tales to Astonish # 100 comes out December 2017.
