Red Robin and Future Batman vs Doomsday (Detective Comics # 966)

One of the coolest moments from last week’s Detective Comics # 966 was the team-up between Red Robin Tim Drake and his future counterpart aka Batman against Doomsday in Mr. Oz’s ship.

The book was written by James Tynion IV with art by Eddie Barrows.

In this issue Tim Drake finally finds out who he’s been locked up with and its actually adult Tim dressed as Batman who he encountered in the past, particularly during Geoff Johns’ run on TEEN TITANS.

Not only are they stuck in that place together, they also have to deal with an escaped Doomsday, whom Jor-El has also captured without Superman’s knowledge.

Amazingly, Batman has some Green K bullets along with him which they use to evade certain death at the hands of the kryptonian murder machine.

The two discuss the possibilities of the future with Batman taunting Red Robin that all roads lead to him taking over as Batman because his older “brothers” aren’t capable of being the Batman the future deserves.

Doomsday returns to attack the two while they were in the midst of sorting out their issues. They do this cool trick which distracts Doomsday long enough for them to escape.

Future Batman uses some of his tech to lead Doomsday back to his cell and be done with him completely.

There’s a ton of interesting stuff that happened here in Detective Comics # 966 and we’re just beginning to peel the layers…
