The First Appearance of the Skrulls – Fantastic Four # 2

Captain Marvel will be battling Skrulls in next year’s Captain Marvel solo movie and what better way to introduce these little green men than with the Skrulls first appearance way back in Fantastic Four # 2.

In this issue, the Fantastic Four have been operating for a bit of time since they first debuted and battled the Mole Man. They havent been heroes for long when they start acting evil-ish.

The Thing destroys an oil rig…

Sue Storm steals a diamond from a jewelry store…

Johnny Storm aka Human Torch melts a statue during a parade…

The most dastardly deed however is reserved to Reed Richards to turns off the power to the city with his elasticity.

We later find out that all is not what it seems with this Fantastic Four…

 

Through exposition we find out that these aren’t the Fantastic Four…

Of course all these shenanigans that the Skrulls have been doing eventually reaches the Fantastic Four who were currently doing their own stuff. Later in the second act of the story, the US Military are called in the apprehend the Foursome to avoid into getting more problem.

But of course, while the prison seemed like it was designed to contain the Fantastic Four, the truth is they can easily escape imprisonment. This is what they exactly do…

The plan was simple, they need to have Human Torch infiltrate these perps, convince them that he’s one of them and learn their plans.

With the knowledge with Johnny Storm, he alerts the Fantastic Four…

And gets into an indoor fight with the Skrulls’ version of Human Torch.

The team manages to defeat the Skrulls, call the authorities and make plans to stop the impending invasion.

Reed and company takes the Skrulls’ ship and flies back to the mothership which was waiting in Earth orbit.

The really funny part of their whole deal with the Skrulls is that Reed makes the Skrulls believe that the Earth will be impossible to be invaded mostly because of the defenses that have been established.

So while they managed to troll the Skrull leaders with their photos of Earth’s “defenses”, the Fantastic Four get a commendation…

… plus what stands as the “Medal of Honor” for Skrulls.

Of course this won’t be the end of the Skrulls as they keep returning to Earth with one scheme or another. There’s that time we get introduced to the Super Skrull Klr’t and more recently, the time when Queen Veranke organized a Secret Invasion which almost succeeded in getting Earth to become part of the Skrull empire.
