Alice Braga Cast as Cecilia Reyes for NEW MUTANTS

Looks like things are going smoothly for the pre-production of 20th Century Fox’s New Mutants movoe with the announcement of the addition of the character Cecilia Reyes.

Reyes has been an on again, off again X-Man for the past decade or so. She first appeared during the X-Men’s Operation Zero Tolerance mini-event where she was targeted for assisination by Bastion and his Zero Tolerance anti-mutant team. 

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the Cecilia Reyes role was supposed to be given to actress Rosario Dawson but she dropped post-negotiations for unspecified reasons. 

Actress Alice Braga has reportedly replaced Dawson as the new Cecilia Reyes for New Mutants. 

If you’re wondering where you’ve seen her, she was the woman in Will Smith’s I AM LEGEND plus a whole lot more. The Brazilian actress will fill out the mentor type role for New Mutants, a role that usually goes to James McAvoy’s Charles Xavier.
