Those Controversial Hidden Anti-Christian and Anti-Jew artworks from X-Men Gold # 1
X-Men Gold # 1 was released last with with very little clamor but it was as the days rolled by that it generated a lot of heat from the community after some anti-Christian and anti-Muslim references were noticed.
The artist for this issue was Indonesian artist Ardian Syaf who has also done other X-Men related gigs in the past.
So what were the controversial stuff added in by the artist in the issue?
There were the obvious ones like this…
212 is something big for Indonesia as it denotes a mass protest which was held in 2nd of December last year in response to Christian governor Ahok who took a few lines from the Quoran and used it as for his campaign.
And that’s that for what we know and what we want to discuss here on thefanboyseo.com.
But wait Syaf had in a few more… Still religious and still politically charged. We have a reference to 51…
More on this from Bleedingcool:
Ahok caused a great deal of controversy in Indonesia after he referred to a verse in the Qur’an while campaigning, specifically the verse Al Maidah 5: 51 and said that people should not believe Islamic leaders who claim it forbids Muslims from being led by non-Muslims. He has since repeatedly apologised for his statements, but it hasn’t stemmed the protest.
There’s also that subtly placed wording of “jew” on Kitty Pryde’s head, in essence “branding” her…
… Its one of those blink and you missed it moments in reading comic books.
Lastly we see Colossus wearing a verse from the holy book, which might have a negative meaning for non-Muslims.
The verse Piotr was wearing had these lines:
Muslims should not appoint the Jews and Christians as their leader
We can only wait to see what happens when this gets bigger coverage. It also reminds me to pickup my copy ASAP.
