First Official Look at Alicia Vikander as Lara Croft in Tomb Raider

Mere weeks from the leaked set photos of Tomb Raider we now have our first official look at Alicia Vikander as Lara Croft. 

Check out the full photo and another one featuring the “Deus Ex” star as the world famous video game icon.

Vikander takes over Angelina Jolie’s classic role as Croft for this new adventure which takes a “year one” approach to the story. 

Just like in the 2013 game Tomb Raider, Lara Croft’s father has been missing. She also finds herself in a mysterious island off the coast of Japan. Whether we will be seeing Japanese ogres and demons and even goddess has been yet to be seen though. 

Still interestingly enough, details for the film also note that Vikander’s Croft isnt the rich girl we’ve seen in the previous iteration. Apparently she ditched her fortune and worked as a bike messenger while putting herself to school. 

That might not rub longtime fans the right way but I like that. It makes her more human.
