Seklusyon: Another Erik Matti Masterpiece for MMFF ’16
Last Thursday night, Team Fanboy had been invited for a premiere screening of Seklusyon, a new horror flick brought to us by Reality Entertainment, in partnership with HOOQ, and directed by none other than Legendary Director Erik Matti.
Yours truly had a chance to give audience to the legendary director himself as well as the cast during the pre-screening dinner at Sarsa (located at 3rd floor, Bldg A, SM Megamall), which by the way served great Filipino classic dishes with their own twist. Anyway, back to topic. As they graced us with their presence, we can’t help but be in awe as the whole cast shared their experiences with Direk Erik. It was actually obvious on how an actor would be talking nicely about their director but once you see their facial expressions while narrating their experience, you know it’s the REAL DEAL.
After all these, we proceeded to the screening. That was an unforgettable experience, watching this movie. It’s a horror movie, but it’s more on the practical side as one would say. It doesn’t use special effects like most are using recently, but it definitely makes you wanna wet your pants as you watch. It also is something that doesn’t attack your fear factor directly as it attacks you psychologically with mind games and such. Next thing you know, you’re already screaming. On a side note, if one is of Catholic faith, I suggest you hear mass before going or at least after watching it. This is probably one of the vital parts of the movie itself, depicting the trials of Priests as they fight off their own demons before fully serving God. If I may add, you need to have guts if you want to watch this, especially if you’re alone. It is indeed one of the most mind-boggling movies I’ve watched for 2016.
Seklusyon is an official entry to the 42nd Metro Manila Film Festival, catch it on the big screen starting Christmas day until 3rd of January, 2017.
