Aquaman vs Superman in Aquaman # 6!
We’ve always wondered who’d win in a fight between Aquaman and Superman. Now thanks to Dan Abnett and Brad Walker, we finally get the idea who has the upperhand in Aquaman # 6.
So in this issue, Superman finally makes an appearance to “stop” Aquaman from hurting more people in the latter’s beef with the United States of America.
Again we have to remind you folks that this is actually Superman/ Clark Kent of Earth 1 from the before the New 52. This is basically the Superman we know and love. The same Superman who died fighting Doomsday and got brought back to life in time to stop Cyborg and Mongul in “Return of Superman”.
Aquaman does make a valid point, Superman came in not knowing the full detail about the quarrel between the two sides. It also does seem unfair that Clark would take the side of US without considering his teammate.
At least now we know full well that Aquaman can definitely own Superman albeit for a few seconds. This wouldn’t happen had Arthur “telegraphed” his movements.
Its also clear that Curry can take a full swing from Superman and live to tell the tale.
This superhero fight in Aquaman # 6 was made only more interesting with the presence of Mera. This also gives us a peek into her strength, being able to wallop Superman long enough for Arthur to recover.
You have to love how much an outsider considers himself despite all the triumphs and tribulations he went through together with the entire Justice League. Also I think the trio of Barry, Hal and Victor should have been called “Brave and the Bold”?
The fight comes to a close with Aquaman convincing the big blue boy scout that he is trying to do something about the situation and that there is an unknown enemy working behind the scenes to screw things up for the king of the seven seas.
The forces of Atlantis also surface to back up their king and escalate this quarrel with the US to all-out war. Good thing Arthur Curry is a man of his word and orders his troops to stand down.
Superman leaves and tells Aquaman to end it or else.
Meanwhile in another part of the world, Black Manta makes a move to ensure that he has a force of his own. He murders the former boss of the organization known as N.E.M.O. and assumes leadership.
Pretty intense fight. I love how it ends in a draw and I want to see a bloodier clash in the future, and limited to just super-strength. No heat vision, ice breath and no summoning of sea creatures too.
