Image Comics co-founder Rob Liefeld is set to bring back his classic team of superheroes, Youngblood, now geared for the modern audience.

The new Youngblood book will be released in 2017 from Image Comics and will not have any of Liefeld’s controversial artwork or off-the-wall writing. He’s just pretty much there to hype the project and oversee things. The lucky people who would be doing this project writer Chad Bowers and artist Jim Towe.

Interestingly enough, its also Liefeld who handpicked Jim Towe to pencil the new project. The artist originally did a series of sketches featuring his own brand of redesign for the Youngblood characters and tagged Liefeld on Twitter where the Image founding father hangs most of the time these days. Liefeld was so impressed with Towe’s work that he immediately convinced him to do the Youngblood revival project.

The book’s writer Chad Bowers is no stranger to team books as well because he’s doing the scripts for Marvel’s X-Men ’92 together with Chris Sims.

Here’s a look at the other stuff related to the Youngblood revival project for 2017:

I wasn’t a fan of this from the 90s but I’m sure willing to try it again with a new crew…
