Godzilla Anime in the Works?
It looks like Shin Godzilla made a lot of fans happy, and so much that they TOHO is actually doing a new feature length animated film featuring the King of Monsters himself, Godzilla.
Polygon Studios will be creating the new film and will be written by Gen Urobuchi with direction by Kobun Shizuno. No full details yet for the movie but we can tarry a guess based on the concept art that has been released that this will involve a group of explorers and scientists getting marooned in an island or a place which also happens to be Godzilla’s stomping grounds.
Unlike the Godzilla Resurgence movie that will be released August 30 here in the Philippines the animated Godzilla flick has no release date attached to it yet. Which is too bad because fans are already clamoring to see this the moment the website went live a few days ago.
While this isn’t Godzilla’s first time in animated form this certainly could be the most loyal to the franchise. We had a Hanna Barbera Godzilla animated series decades ago and then we also had a Godzilla animated series based off ‘Zilla and the critically-panned Godzilla film from 1998. Trust us, don’t ask us what that’s all about that.
Hopefully we get to see more Kaiju battles in this anime, we’ve been hankering for some Big G versus Mothra or even Godzilla versus Ghidora.
And as to whether any of those other Kaiju will also appear, there’s no official word – but hey, it’s animation, anything is possible.
