Mads Mikkelsen’s Role in Doctor Strange Revealed through Minimates Toy Preview
Remember when the first trailer for Doctor Strange came out and we were all hyped but also left scratching our heads on who Mads Mikkelsen would be playing? Thanks to Diamond Select Toys’ Marvel Minimates, we now have a name for his character.
Learn more about the scaly eyed guy after the cut.
So apparently Mikkelsen’s character is named Kaecilius.
Here’s a look at the aforementioned Doctor Strange minimates wave and the description.
A Diamond Select Toys Release! The next chapter of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is now the next entry in the long-running Marvel Minimates line! Series 70 of Marvel Minimates mini-figures travels to the world of the Doctor Strange movie, with four different two-packs: Dr. Strange with The Ancient One, Mordo with Kaecilius, the specialty-exclusive Stephen Strange with Christine Palmer and the specialty-exclusive Wong & Zealot! Each 2-inch Minimates mini-figure features 14 points of articulation and fully interchangeable parts. Each two-pack is packaged in a full-color window box.
Apparently the character in the comics anyway, had been a disciple of the baddie Baron Mordo before going rogue and starting his own cult. He hasn’t been seen much which could explain why he was used, the dude is maleable in terms of character and continuity. Doctor Strange director Scott Derrickson could go with the mystical villain in so many ways as opposed to Strange’s other rogues like Dormammu or Baron Mordo.
Interestingly enough we also now have a name for the character that actress Zara Pythian is playing. She’s called Zealot and I’m betting this is a generic name for all followers of Mikkelsen’s Kaecilius. We might be wrong though.
Directed by Scott Derrickson, Doctor Strange has Benedict Cumberbatch (Stephen Strange), Rachel McAdams (Christine Palmer?), Chiwetel Ejiofor (Baron Mordo), Amy Landecker, with Scott Adkins, Michael Stuhlbarg (Nicodemus West), Tilda Swinton (The Ancient One) and Mads Mikkelsen, and the movie is scheduled to open in theaters on November 4, 2016.
