I Suck at Dark Souls III and My First Impression of the Game
I tried and found out that I suck at Dark Souls III. As Mr. Haoson of DAGeeks.com put it, I play like a headless chicken flailing around.
I’m doing a more in-depth analysis of DS3 after I finish a couple of reviews in the backburner. So for starters let me post the livestream video I did on YouTube two days ago.
No matter how many YT videos you watch or quick tutorials, everything will be moot when you actually control the character, in my case, the knight. Dark Souls III will require you to unlearn everything you’ve picked up from playing other games from the same genre.
So forget everything you’ve learned from playing God of War or other button mashers and start counting frames and calculating movements on the fly.
Dead serious about counting frames and watching enemy movements by the way.
If you’ll ask if the game is worth getting, I’d say yes, but from the get-go let me explicitly remind you of how much difficult it is. Of course that won’t count if you’re a seasoned pro in this series but if you’re not then prepare your patience as this will test it to the very end.
The gothic and eerie theme for the series works well and I can now see why fans of the franchise have stuck to this brand for such a long time. It’s good and a cut above the rest design wise.
By default, the controls work just fine but if you’ve managed to get on a specific play style from the past Dark Souls game then you can always tweak it a bit. And if you’re a newbie you HAVE to familiarize yourself with menial things like taking a HP potion and rolling.
Anyway, here’s the second part of my hour-long stream, still with stupid.
