Sword Art Online -Ordinal Scale- movie announced for 2017 release
The latest Sword Art Online work has just been revealed at Dengeki Bunko’s Spring event, and it is a movie entitled “Sword Art Online -Ordinal Scale-“. The movie’s staff was on-hand to give additional information about the movie.
The movie revolves aruond a new game called “Ordinal Scale”, which makes use of augmented reality tech and a new AR device called “Augma”. The events of the movie happens after the anime’s “Mother’s Rosario” arc, the last arc of the anime’s second season.
Yoshitsugu Matsuoka and Haruka Tomatsu will return to their respective roles as Kirito and Asuna, respectively. SAO light novel author Reki Kawahara will be writing new material for the film, and Tomohiko Ito will be directing this film for A-1 Pictures. The light novel’s illustrator, abec, will be doing the character designs for the film. The key visual can be seen below:
