First Look at New Power Rangers Movie Logo and Familiar Characters Set to Appear
We’ve got big movement for the upcoming Power Rangers movie set for release 2017 including a look at the film’s logo and details about returning characters.
You can learn more about the new MMPR movie after the jump.
OK first up we’ve got the new logo:
Saban’s gone and tweaked the classic Mighty Morphin Power Rangers logo to make it more appealing to the 21st century audience and even for the now-adults that have grown up watching the long-running series. This was spotted in the Licensing Expo happening this week in Las Vegas, Nevada.
We’ve also received information that the classic season 1 villain Rita Repulsa will also be one of the villains for the new PR movie.
Here’s how HeroicHollywood describes the new iteration of Rita…
A huntress. A striking, yet subtly alien-looking woman. She carries a metallic staff topped with a distinctive crescent shape. Advances with a soldier’s confidence, guided by some sort of compass… Her staff is actually a device of immense power. She points it at the ground. Heads emerge, built layer upon layer like 3-D printing, made from the earth itself… The staff’s technology grants her the ability to create humanoid figures, soulless and robotic.
More than that its been rumored that the film opens with Rita fighting the Dinosaur era’s Power Rangers led by Zordon in his Red Ranger form. He’s described as:
Though alien, he looks like a man in his 50s. Sinewy and strong, as if carved from some root that refused to die. A being of integrity and iron will.
I seriously cannot wait to see this movie when it comes out January 2017. No cast has been attached yet but the film will be directed by Dean Israelite with the film being penned by Zak Penn and Ashley Miller.
