New Mutants # 1 Addresses Uncanny X-Men Deaths

Spoilers for New Mutants # 1 by Jonathan Hickman, Ed Brisson and Rod Reis.

So we finally get to address some questions that were laid out in Matthew Rosenberg’s run on Uncanny X-Men, namely the scores of deaths he left during his run.

In the previous volume, three of the New Mutants team members died one after the other. Chamber died during a fight between the X-Men and the Marauders after he was blindsided.

Magik was “killed” during a rescue mission where she went berserk and unleashed her demon form.

Rahne Sinclaire aka Wolfsbane died a lonely death after she was beaten to death by humans in a park, after she rejected their request to see her mutant powers, which was turning into a wolf.

You can check out the rest of the mutants who died during Matthew Rosenberg’s Uncanny X-Men run HERE.

Now in Hickman’s New Mutants book, all three of them after alive and well. We even open the book with Rahne sitting alone and smiling.

Later in the book, as Dani and Sunspot enter the new school area, we get to see Magik and Chamber having coffee, with Magik apparently showing her coffee-lover side.

And while its never fully addressed for the latter two, we get to see how Wolfsbane was revived by Krakoa’s Resurrection Five. Storm is even present to welcome Rahne back.

Sad though we never get to see them actually getting reborn.
