DC Comics and Bendis Reveals Tim Drake’s Codename and its sadly a no-brainer

I was slightly doing coverage for DC Comics’ ongoing series Young Justice especially with a change of status quo for the team’s defacto leader Tim Drake aka Robin and now we get the reveal of Tim’s new codename…

So, a few weeks ago, Bendis had started teasing a big change for Tim Drake’s Robin while this new team gets lost in the DC Multiverse after they got screwed over by the people of Gemworld at the end of the first story arc.

One of their adventures brings the team to a new Earth 3 where Tim eventually came into contact with the evil universe’s version of Tim; who calls himself “Drake” as opposed to Robin…

This happened in Young Justice # 8…

There are also other characters who refer to Tim as simply “Drake” including recently returned speedster Bart Allen aka Impulse and Tim’s long-time girlfriend Stephanie Brown aka The Spoiler.

And while having a new codename is good and all, I feel underwhelmed. The whole tease and build up was all good but then again, having to end up with a name like “Drake” which is also the character’s last name is a no-brainer. It also felt like a big waste of time narrative wise. He could have decided that as early as issue 5 or 6 to be honest.
