The Three Moments Captain America Wielded Mjolnir
We all cheered that moment Chris Evans’ Captain America was seen brandishing Thor’s signature weapon Mjolnir in the final fight with Thanos in Avengers: Endgame. But did you know that there were three other moments in comic book history where Captain America wielded Mjolnir.
Before we proceed, spoiler alert for comics stuff this time.
Thor # 390
In this issue of Thor featuring the Avengers, Thor losed mjolnir and the team almost lost but they did get a major save from Steve Rogers who calls himself The Captain at this point in history.
This was the first time Thor realized that should anything happen, he could trust Captain America to carry mjolnir and save the day.
Another great moment from recent history came from the pages of Fear Itself. In this story, Odin’s brother The Serpent reappears and tries to claim Asgard and the nine realms. He teams up with Red Skull’s daughter, Sin, to capture the world.
In the penultimate issue of the story, Thor falls at the hands of the Serpent and Captain America wields mjolnir to help the Avengers in their fight against the Serpent, Sin and the remaining powered up villains called The Worthy.
This was also the event where Bucky Barnes relinquishes the mantle of Captain America and it reverts back to Steve Rogers.
Mjolnir makes a brief appearance in Secret Empire where Hydra Cap was seen picking up Mjolnir because was deemed “Mighty” enough to wield the mystical hammer.
Later in the story when the good Captain America resurfaces, good Cap uses Mjolnir to end his fight with Hydra Cap…
This also marks the defeat of HYDRA and their downfall from power.
